NLL Soho Slam V1.0, Premiering With The 2022–23 NBA Season
Here’s all you need to know about NLL Soho Slam, a weekly NBA strategy/guessing/knowledge game exclusively for members of the Nine Lives Lounge of NBA Top Shot.

Here are a few updates to Soho Slam:
- There are 10 weekly questions to answer — the first 8 count for both the weekly and monthly leaderboards. The final two ONLY count for the monthly leaderboard.

ORIGINAL SOHO SLAM ARTICLE
The Nine Lives Lounge of NBA Top Shot is getting a game! NLL Soho Slam Version 1.0, created by the NLL Council, will launch this week leading up to the start of the NBA season. Here’s all you need to know to get ready.
Spoiler alert: It’s going to be super simple and easy to play. At least at first — it will be a foundation to build off of over time as we learn and receive feedback from players.
Expect the game to evolve over time, for nothing to be set in stone (at least after each monthly contest), and above all, enjoy this fun piece of exclusive utility!

What is NLL Soho Slam?
A weekly game testing your NBA and WNBA knowledge, and luck, for a chance at winning weekly and monthly prizes!
I’m a Nine Lives Lounge member — How do I play?
You must be a member of the Discord to gain access.
Every Sunday night or Monday morning during the NBA or WNBA seasons, a link will be provided to access NLL Soho Slam. You’ll need to fill it out by tip-off of the first games on Monday night. Once filled out, the forms are locked and cannot be changed for any reason (player injuries, etc.).
Each week of NLL Soho Slam will cover games occurring on a Monday-Sunday cadence. So Week 1 of NLL Soho Slam will launch on Oct. 16 or 17, and cover games on Oct. 18–23. And so on.
This first version of the game will have 9 questions to answer, plus 3 bonus questions.
The first 9 questions will count toward the weekly AND monthly leaderboards.
The last 3 will ONLY count toward the monthly leaderboard.
The first 9 questions, and first 2 bonus questions, will typically cover weekly basketball action in some format. Who will play the most minutes in a certain game? Which team will win this matchup? The questions will be varied, but have a familiar theme of leaning on your working knowledge of the NBA and WNBA…and how lucky you are!
The final bonus question will ask if you have locked your Cool Cats set — this will earn you one additional bonus point toward the monthly leaderboard each week, providing a small incentive to those who have chosen to lock in their place in the Nine Lives Lounge for the long haul.
AGAIN: Nothing is set in stone. There’s a reason it’s called V1.0!
What are we playing for?
There will be weekly AND monthly prizes, incentivizing members to compete and try their best each and every week.
Weekly prizes
There will be weekly pack prizes — whoever gets the first 9 questions correct will be rewarded with a Cool Cats pack.* If no one gets all 9, then anyone who gets 8 questions correct will get one. And so on. We will announce the pack breakdowns (which Cool Cats Drops they’re coming from) at the end of Week 1.
There are currently still more than 10K Cool Cats packs in our inventory. So we fully anticipate having enough packs through at least the 2022–23 NBA and WNBA seasons.
Monthly prizes
Each correct answer from the weekly contests count as a point on the monthly leaderboard. There will be $4,000 in Dapper balance up for grabs each month, including for October, despite there only being two weeks of games.
We’re going to announce the monthly prize breakdown sometime during Week 2 of the NBA Season / NLL Soho Slam, to get an idea of how many members will be participating. Members should anticipate at minimum the top 50 spots getting a Dapper balance prize.
Will this game ever open to all collectors of NBA Top Shot?
Maybe in some format, but not anytime soon! The NLL Council wants to continue providing fun and exclusive utility for the Nine Lives Lounge. But should this game be a success, we’d love to find a way to incorporate the entire community.
